THANK YOU SYDNEY MITCHELL
Sydney Mitchell Solicitors is an award-winning law firm based in the West Midlands. Over the past few years, they have collaborated with our service to deliver a number of free workshops to carers, including wills, power of attorney, and continuing healthcare. We would particularly like to thank Shelley Collingbourne and Tracey Creed at the firm who have delivered these sessions. During these workshops, they have not only provided information but also individual guidance to many of our carers who need legal advice. They have also attended and supported us at our yearly Carers Rights Day Events and participated in our Carers Talk podcast.
Last year, we were fortunate enough to have been selected as one of their Charities of the Year, along with Parenting Mental Health. Throughout the year, they organised a diverse range of fundraising events dedicated to supporting our service. On Thursday, February 15th, we had the privilege of attending a special meet-and-greet event at their premises. It provided us with the opportunity to connect with their staff and share insights into the impactful work we do. During the event, Karen Moores (Senior Partner, Sydney Mitchell) presented our CEO, Brandon Scott-Omenka, and Suzanne Alderson, founder of Parenting Mental Health, with a cheque for £4,000 each.
Karen Moores, Senior Partner at Sydney Mitchell, said: “Thank you to everyone for supporting and participating in our fundraising events and activities over the past year. We are planning many more future events, but we are pleased to present today £4,000 each to Solihull Carers Trust and Parenting Mental Health.”
We are incredibly grateful to have received this generous donation. These funds will be instrumental in offering crucial respite opportunities for carers of all ages in Solihull. For many carers, finding time to take a break is challenging, and isolation can often add to their difficulties. Our variety of social activities, including relaxation days, group sessions, and outings, offer invaluable “me time” to carers, helping alleviate some of the struggles of their caring role.
