Who we are

We are a charity with a mission to support unpaid carers of all ages in Solihull. We know the challenges that carers face because of their caring role. There can be huge demands on a carer’s time, health, physical and emotional well-being. Our job is to make sure that someone is looking after them. We are here to offer advice, information, training, emotional and practical support and much needed time out or respite. All of our services are free of charge.

Am I A Carer?

Not sure if you are a carer? Carers can be children or adults whose lives are affected by caring for a family member, friend or neighbor who relies on them for help. This could be you if the person you care for has: a physical or learning disability; a long term or terminal illness; sensory impairment, mental health needs; or substance dependency. The reasons family or friends may need our support can vary. If you care for someone on a regular basis, we are here to help you. Do you support have a family member, friend or neighbour who:

If you answer “yes” to any combination of the above, you are carer.

Professionals

Education, health services and businesses can also do a lot to support carers in the community. In education: carers can be supported via the Young Carers in Schools programme. In health settings: carers can be supported via the GP register; and we can undertake awareness raising activities in your health setting whether it’s a hospital, surgery or pharmacy. We also help businesses to understand how they can support carers within the workplace and how to become carer-friendly employers

We rely on volunteers to support our work with carers. Volunteers receive training and professional development support and are highly valued members of our team. “Volunteering helps me put something back into my community. I am proud that I have been able to use my skills and experience to help develop and grow the work of Carers Trust Solihull”

Donation stories

We are grateful to all our donors and fundraisers that help support unpaid carers across Solihull. The tenacity of some of our fundraisers is extraordinary – pupils from the local Eversfield School turned £5 into thousands for young carers in Solihull. We have enjoyed the continued support from local Solihull Lions and Rotary St Alphege too and countless donations from individuals—all this helps us to support carers.
