ABOUT THIS VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY

The Peer Mentoring Session facilitator will assist the project coordinator to host 1-2-1 and group mentoring sessions between young carers which take place on Wednesday evenings. You will be involved in preparing and supporting individual pairs of young carers to engage in face-to-face activities to develop social skills, build confidence, reduce isolation and give support with difficulties that they may experience in their school setting. It’s all about creating a relaxed and fun environment for the young carers to work together independently but having adults on hand to provide guidance in the background.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Volunteers who can support young carers to engage in 1-2-1 and group peer mentoring sessions with other young carers. We need a reliable and committed person to support the Peer Mentoring Project Coordinator to deliver up to 2 Wednesday evenings a month at our premises in the centre of Solihull.

PRACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS

MILEAGE OR BUS FARE INCURRED FROM TRAVELLING TO AND FROM THE MAIN OFFICE IN SOLIHULL.

PEER MENTORING SESSIONS TAKE PLACE ON WEDNESDAY EVENINGS A MONTH BETWEEN 5:00 AND 8:00PM.

  • Will require references
  • Must live or work locally
