Birmingham Airport Viewing Area
This may seem a little unorthodox, but we all know how entertaining it can be for kids (young and old) to watch the aeroplanes come in and take off. Give them a wave and you might even get a salute from some pilots too!
The area is situated at Car Park 5, which is open 24 hours and features picnic benches along with excellent views of the runway. Please note that standard car park charges apply if you choose to park here.
For those wanting an even closer look at the aircraft, the dedicated viewing area at Sheldon Country Park offers a great alternative. Located just under a mile from the farm buildings, it can only be reached on foot, as motor vehicles are not permitted.

The Royal Air Force Museum Midlands in Cosford offers an award-winning, action-packed day out for the whole family—and best of all, entry is completely free.
Open daily from 10.00am, the museum is home to the striking National Cold War Exhibition, where visitors can explore dramatic displays of iconic aircraft, tanks, cars, life-sized Russian dolls, and captivating Cold War stories through immersive Hotspots. Aviation enthusiasts will be thrilled to see the world’s oldest Spitfire and other historic aircraft in the War in the Air Hangar, while little ones can burn off energy in the outdoor playground.
This Easter, the museum is bursting with exciting activities: from The Pilot Training Show (14–18 April), a lively, interactive performance bringing the Battle of Britain to life, to The Aviation Cadets (22–25 April), where children complete physical and mental challenges to earn their wings. Budding engineers can join the Flight Lab: Paper Plane Edition (12–18 & 21–27 April) to build and test their own aircraft designs, while creative kids can enjoy the Easter Basket Make & Take (12–13 & 19–20 April), crafting foam bunny or chick baskets for their chocolate haul.
Families can also strike a pose in a pilot uniform at the Runway Reflections Selfie Station (12–27 April), a perfect way to remember the day. For those who love a challenge, the Easter Egg Trail (12–27 April) invites explorers to search the museum for hidden letters and crack a secret Easter code.
With hands-on activities, imaginative play, and historic wonders, the RAF Museum Midlands is the perfect destination for a high-flying Easter adventure.

Market Hall Museum
Market Hall Museum, located in a beautifully restored 17th-century Market Hall in the heart of Warwick, brings to life the story of Warwickshire—exploring how the county’s natural, built, and human landscapes have evolved over time.
Thanks to a generous grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the museum has been recently refurbished and now offers a dynamic and engaging visitor experience. Among its most popular exhibits are the beloved Museum Bear; Oisín, the tweeting Giant Irish Deer skeleton; an observation beehive tended by local beekeepers; and the intricate Sheldon Tapestry Map of Warwickshire. Visitors can also marvel at the historic Wilmcote Plesiosaur skeleton, two remarkable Roman silver coin hoards found in the county, and a real Warwickshire dinosaur from Cross Hands Quarry.
Additional highlights include the Cross Hands Quarry Dinosaur, an interactive Fire of Warwick display, and a fascinating historic costume collection, all of which help paint a rich and immersive picture of Warwickshire’s past and present.
The Science Garden at Thinktank
The Science Garden at Thinktank is an exciting outdoor discovery space packed with over 30 hands-on exhibits that bring the fascinating worlds of engineering, mechanics and transportation to life.
Perfect for visitors of all ages, the garden invites everyone to get physically involved—whether you’re spinning on a giant human-sized hamster wheel capable of 30 revolutions per minute or marvelling at the towering, clanging eight-metre-high ‘Terminus’ machine. The garden is divided into fun zones like Energise, where you harness renewable energy to power a mechanical theatre, Mechanise, where you feed the Terminus machine and trigger an explosion of dancing balls and whistles, and Mobilise, where you can experience the bumpy ride of a wagon with square wheels.
There’s also the Garden Arena, an outdoor classroom space used for shows and workshops for schools. Admission to the Science Garden is included with entry to Thinktank, or it’s free daily from 3pm (with closing times varying seasonally; the earliest being 4pm in winter due to light levels).
Just opposite, little ones can explore the Kids’ Park—a small, free play area on Level 0, where children can experiment with sound, touch and movement using whisper dishes and giant musical chimes. Together, the Science Garden and Kids’ Park offer a fun-filled, educational day out right at the heart of Thinktank’s outdoor Level 0 space.
Redwings Horse Sanctuary
Redwings is the UK’s largest horse welfare charity, devoted to rescuing, rehabilitating and caring for more than 1,500 horses and donkeys every single day, with an additional 700 living happily in loving guardian homes. Entirely funded by public donations and regulated by the Charity Commission and the Fundraising Regulator, Redwings goes above and beyond to give neglected and abandoned equines a second chance at life.
Redwings Oxhill, one of five visitor centres across the UK, located in Warwickshire, is home to 80 rescued residents, including a lovable group of cobs affectionately called “The Breakfast Club” because each is named after a morning treat. The sanctuary is open to the public Friday to Monday, 10am to 4pm (with paddocks closing at 3.30pm), and while entry is free, donations are warmly welcomed to support the ongoing care of its remarkable residents.
Renowned for its groundbreaking Adoption Scheme—where supporters can sponsor a rescued resident for just a few pounds a month—Redwings allows people to follow the journey of their chosen horse or donkey through the Sanctuary. The charity also leads the way in the humane and compassionate rescue of semi-feral and nervous horses, thanks to its expert round-up teams. Once in Redwings’ care, horses benefit from the knowledge of a specialist behaviour team, who use ethical, learning-based techniques to build trust and confidence. When the time is right, the dedicated rehoming team works tirelessly to find the perfect match between horse and human.
After meeting your new four-legged friends, Major’s Café is the perfect place to relax and recharge. Tuck into a slice of cake, grab a tasty snack or enjoy a takeaway cuppa—all proceeds go directly towards caring for the hundreds of rescued animals, including the very ones you meet during your visit.

While little ones love the thrill of finding chocolate eggs, don’t forget to sneak in a few extra surprises for the adults too (everyone deserves a little Easter indulgence!). Mix things up with some sugar-free alternatives: think small puzzles, sticker books, soft toys, or even bunny ears—hidden inside colourful plastic eggs to keep the theme alive.
Get Creative Before the Big Hunt
Before the hunt kicks off, why not decorate egg baskets together? Give your little ones containers to personalise with stickers and Easter drawings—it’s all part of the fun and builds excitement for the big event.
Clues, Maps and Mystery
For extra adventure, turn your egg hunt into a thrilling scavenger chase! Create simple picture or word-based clues that lead to each prize, and if you’ve got family who can’t join in person, ask them to record video clues—kids will love solving them. Count all your eggs before hiding and keep track of what’s found to avoid any forgotten treats later.
Safety First
If toddlers are joining the fun, hide eggs within easy reach and away from anything sharp or risky. For smaller children, use visual signs, bunny paw prints in flour or chalk, and easy-to-follow maps to help them on their way.
Level Up With Easter Activities
Want to add a little challenge? Create a fun Easter checklist for children to complete before earning their rewards. From finding eggs in three different colours to spotting spring flowers or hopping like a bunny across the lawn, these simple tasks stretch the excitement even further. You can even turn clues into mini-games or physical activities for a full-on Easter adventure.
Egg Hunts With Riddles (For Bigger Kids & Adults)
For older kids or competitive adults, transform your Easter Egg Hunt into a riddle-solving quest. Write 6–8 clever clues and hide them with eggs throughout the house or garden. Each clue leads to the next, unlocking sweet surprises along the way. The more riddles they crack, the more goodies they’ll discover.
Display the Easter Magic
Don’t forget—Easter isn’t just about what’s inside the eggs. Deck your space with cute and colourful Easter decorations to set the scene. Whether it’s bunting, bunny footprints or spring flowers, it adds to the festive joy and creates memories worth treasuring.
However you choose to celebrate, an Easter Egg Hunt at home is a magical way to bring your family together. So grab those baskets, unleash your inner bunny, and get ready for a hunt that’s sure to be egg-stra special.
All Active Camps
All Active Camps (run by All Active Sports Ltd) launched its very first school holiday camp at Eversfield School in Solihull during the Easter break of 2005. Founded by Richard Webb and professional rugby player Mark Evans, the camp was created with one simple goal: to offer girls and boys a safe, active, and fun-filled environment where parents could leave their children with complete peace of mind.
Since its inception, All Active Camps has gone from strength to strength, becoming one of the most established and trusted holiday camps in the region. Thousands of children from across Solihull and beyond have attended over the years, helping to shape and improve the wide-ranging activities on offer. The team’s vast experience has been crucial in developing engaging programmes that cater to all interests and ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding.
All Active Camps will run across three weeks during the Easter holidays in 2025. Week 1 takes place from Monday 7th to Friday 11th April, Week 2 runs from Monday 14th to Thursday 17th April, and Week 3 operates from Tuesday 22nd to Friday 25th April. Optional swimming sessions will be available on Tuesday and Thursday mornings throughout Easter.
Special Easter-themed activities are scheduled for Wednesday 9th April (half day), Thursday 10th April, Thursday 17th April, and Friday 11th April. Every child on the Multi Activity Programme will have the chance to take part in daily Art & Craft sessions.
Additionally, a standalone Art Club will be offered as a half-day session for those who want to focus exclusively on creative activities.
Religious Celebrations
For many Christians, the Easter season is preceded by Lent—a solemn period that reflects the 40 days Jesus spent fasting and praying in the desert. Lent is a time of devotion, self-examination, and penitence. During this season, it’s common for individuals to give up certain foods or habits, using the time as an opportunity for spiritual renewal and preparation in the lead-up to Easter.
Eggs play an important symbolic role in the Christian celebration of Easter. In various cultures, they represent new life. For Christians, they also serve as a powerful symbol of Jesus’ resurrection—his emergence from the tomb and victory over death.
Wherever it is celebrated, Easter is a time rich in meaning—marked by joyful processions, meaningful rituals, and profound expressions of faith.
