Bridgit is built for unpaid carers

We are excited to share that Bridgit Care, a new digital platform designed to support unpaid carers, has officially launched! As a carers service committed to providing the best support to those who need it, we are thrilled to be working in partnership with Bridgit care to be offering this innovative tool to our carers in the Solihull borough.

What is Bridgit?

Caring for someone can be challenging, and we know that carers often need quick, reliable advice and resources at a time that is right for them. Bridgit Care is an online platform that has been developed to make life easier for carers, offering them direct access to personalised support, practical tools, and local services – all in one place.

The online platform is designed to be simple, user-friendly, and available 24/7, allowing carers to get the help they need whenever it’s most convenient for them.

How you can use Bridgit

Bridgit is available on PC, smartphone or tablet, by clicking here. You can also visit Bridgit by clicking the Bridgit logo at the top right corner on our website, or by visiting “Carer Support” in our website’s menu.

We’d like to highlight some of Bridgit’s capabilities and how your caring role can be improved, with the help of Bridgit and Carers Trust Solihull.

Following entering your information in the “My Details” — name, age, etc., but also details about your caring role and those you care for — Bridgit’s AI coaches will be available to talk with you every moment of every day.

The information you provide will be used to inform the support and conversations you have with Bridgit and its coaches. You can also customise how you would like your responses: short and snappy or detailed, simple or detailed, etc,.

With these details, a simple prompt in the chat field can lead to detailed responses with several suggestions of support and guidance. You can then further elaborate on your initial prompt, or follow up with any of the suggestions made by Bridgit, so you can focus on the right support for you.

The more information and time you give to Bridgit, the more it can offer you.

Chat settings and your details can be changed at any point, so you can truly customise your experience!

Chat example

With Bridgit you can “Check-In” at any point you’d like (we suggest once a week) where you can answer questions about your emotional and physical state, during specific aspects and times of your daily caring role. With these check-ins, you will build a comprehensive database of times and situations of your caring role you most struggle with, but also the times when you succeeded. It will help to see where you have improved but also where you should put focus to further increase your mental, physical and emotional health while caring. These check-ins, the positives and negatives, can also be discussed with your Bridgit coaches with which they can make suggestions on how you can progress with maintaining the good, as well as how to improve on the bad.

It can be difficult to know what support you need or where to find it. With Bridgit, you can take things at your own pace chat, answer a few questions, and receive a personalised, comprehensive plan tailored to you and the person or people you care for. Your plan will include practical support, guidance to local services, and advice to help support your wellbeing.

Once created, your plan is safely stored within Bridgit, so you can access it whenever you need and update it as your circumstances change.

Create a Care Plan

We are grateful to the carers who participated in our focus group, testing the platform and providing valuable feedback. Many highlighted the benefit of being able to access support at a time that suits them, while others appreciated avoiding unnecessary phone calls that often left them feeling stressed. Overall, the feedback was very positive, with carers finding the chat function particularly useful for delivering relevant information tailored to their individual situations and local to Solihull.
