Free online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for over 16’s

Living Well Consortium UK and Silvercloud now offering free Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

At Carers Trust Solihull we hear all the time how the events we hold for our carers help improve their mindset and mood. Yet we also know that they aren’t the solution to permanent mental health improvement. Trying to find a NHS funded therapist or CBT can come with long waits and delays, and although there are other paid options available, not everyone can afford these – especially when repeated sessions of support are required.

That is why we are happy to announce a new form of CBT is now available for those aged 16+ and registered with a Birmingham or Solihull GP.

You will be able to access online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (cCBT) with the Living Well Consortium and SilverCloud, free of charge and in less than an hour.

How does it work?

Incredibly simple.

You complete a self-referral form in which you explain what your current needs are and how you best think you can be supported. After this you will then receive an Email within 30 minutes with further questions to help better determined your needs, then you will be directed to the best suited Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP).

It is a supported online program where you will be guided and assisted by a qualified (PWP), throughout your time with the program. You will be given tasks specific to your needed support and then reviewing with the PWP how you have progressed with those tasks. This can be done at your own pace for up to six sessions, allowing you to complete and review with the PWP weekly or bi-weekly. After these six sessions you will then have full access to SilverCloud tools and program materials for one year. It is the aim that during your supported sessions you will be given the methods, tools, and knowledge to better support yourself. Then when you move to the unsupported year with access to all those tools and materials, you will have a better understanding of yourself and your required support.

Who is supported?

You might be wondering if there is support for your needs, thankfully SilverCloud has an extensive list of support they can offer. All of which is backed by nearly two decades of extensive clinical research, and used extensively by the NHS, among others. The only requirements you need to fulfill are being aged 16+ and registered with a Birmingham or Solihull GP.

We understand this new method of CBT may seem unusual and you want to make sure you’re putting yourself in the best position possible. If you would like to verify the clinical research and the services validity before going forward, then you can find that information by clicking here.

If you are an unpaid carer and you need someone to talk to then you have us just a phone call away. We are available 9am – 5pm and you can call us on 0121 788 1143 or even email us at: centre@solihullcarers.org

We know that mental health doesn’t stick to a 9 – 5 schedule which is why we are pushing these kind of CBT services. They give you the tools, understanding and support you need when you need it.

Also don’t forget about our carers meet-ups and social events. They let you meet other carers to talk, relax, have a cuppa and cake, or even have day trips to Weston-super-Mare, Black Country Living Museum, and plenty of other events for you to enjoy youself.

Here are just some of the events we hold, and you can also find our events calendar below to join us in the future.
