Seeking volunteers for our unpaid carers sitting service - Carers Trust Solihull

Are you someone who lives locally and has time on their hands?

Are you retired or looking for a new challenge?

Carers Trust Solihull is always seeking ways to improve our services supporting unpaid carers in the borough. Over the past year, we have set up a new service kindly funded for the first year by The National Lottery. It’s called The Sitting Service.

The aim is to place volunteers in the homes of carers. You will sit with the cared for person for an hour or two so that the Carer can take a break, go to the shops, get their hair done, take a walk, knowing that their cared for person is safe.

We already know from the 4,000 plus carers registered with Carers Trust Solihull, how very much this project is needed. Caring for someone brings its challenges, many of our carers hardly ever leave their home and life can become very lonely. We need your help to change that.

We offer a really interesting training and if you already have experience of looking after someone with a mental health issue, dementia, or a physical disability then your experience would be especially welcome. We work right across the borough so volunteers must be prepared to travel.

If you think you have what it takes to join our hugely valued pool of volunteers then please contact the Project Coordinator, Helen Pitt.
