Thank you Shirley Ladies Circle: £9,175 raised to support carers in Solihull

Shirley ladies Circle Donation FI

A massive thank you to the wonderful Shirley Ladies Circle for all of your hard work throughout 2024

We first heard of the Shirley Ladies Circle intentions to fundraise for us in the autumn of 2024. They got in touch to ask us for permission to use our logos to help promote their autumn ceilidh – a type of barn dance with Scottish roots, that serves food and drinks – with a raffle too, of course!

Of course, we were ecstatic about this idea and honoured we were chosen as their recipient of all fund-raising at this wonderful event – we were compelled to help promote it on our social media. We couldn’t wait to see all the fun that was had by all who went, and it was a successful evening in every way imaginable.

For those who don’t know, Shirley Ladies Circle are part of a national group, Ladies Circle, and have been running for nearly 70 years. You can find Ladies Circles all over the country, with hundreds of members joining the self-described “friendship club for women to have a great time and give something back.”

Circlers, the affectionate name for members, form bonds not only with each other but also with their communities, promoting fun, friendship and fundraising. They are part of The Round Table Family, which began its life as The Round Table, formed in 1927 as a men’s group by Louis Marchesi. His founding speech echoes strong still, in the work and dedication of all members:

There are things we must do, there are things we can do and there are things we should do.

This ideology lives on in the compassion and dedication of the Shirley Ladies Circle, who throughout 2024, spent their time and energy doing all the could to help fundraise for us and the work we do in supporting unpaid carers.

Shirley Ladies Circle organised, ran, and assisted in several events throughout the year – you may have even been to them, they were so popular. Jointly ran between themselves and Shirley Round Table was their highlight of the year and main event; Shirley Beer and Cider Festival. A sun-soaked spectacular with fun for the whole family, and cold drinks on tap to relax and enjoy the sense of community in the peace of Shirley’s beautiful scenery. Not only was it a success, it is the biggest influence on the generous donation that was raised for Carers Trust Solihull by the hard work of all involved.

In total, we are privileged to receive an outstanding £9,175!

Throughout the year, we already spoke about the November Ceilidh, other events were held and of course the Ladies Circle was there to give their all. Solihull Round Table Fireworks in November afforded the opportunity to them run the bar of the event, and the Santa Sleigh Route was also blessed by the presence of Shirley Ladies Circle.

We can’t thank you enough for all of your dedication and hard work throughout 2024, and every penny raised will be spent on supporting unpaid carers of Solihull.

We encourage everyone to consider joining your local Circle or Round Table, to take part in events like these and more! Make friends, form bonds with your community and make a difference in the lives of your neighbours and local causes.
