Purpose of the Role
-
As part of our respite and wellbeing offer for adult carers aged 25 and over, you will join our friendly and dedicated team to help carers enjoy a worry-free break from their caring role, connect with others, and develop their social confidence. You’ll support the delivery of group sessions and activities arranged by our Outreach Support Workers and Lead Sessional Worker, which may include Meet Ups, Wellbeing Sessions, Training Workshops, and other social events.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys engaging with people, is adaptable, and has a caring nature. Your support helps create safe, relaxed spaces where carers can recharge, connect, and focus on their own wellbeing.
Key Roles and Responsibilities

Work under the direction of an Outreach Support Worker or Lead Sessional Worker to deliver activities in line with session plans and staff information packs.

Help set up and run group sessions in a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment.

Take responsibility for assigned tasks or areas during activities.

Follow risk assessments and organisational safety guidance.
-
Respond to rota requests to ensure adequate staffing levels for planned sessions.

Attend bi-monthly online check-ins and team updates.

Receive and engage in ongoing training relevant to your role.

Respond appropriately to any safeguarding concerns, incidents, or accidents, with support from the Lead Worker.

Build positive rapport with carers and encourage active engagement.

Follow all Carers Trust Solihull policies and procedures relevant to your work.
Preferred Skills and Qualities

Minimum of two years’ experience in a community-based or people-focused setting.

Creative, adaptable, and able to respond to different group needs and dynamics.

Friendly, confident, and engaging when working with individuals and groups.

Able to stay calm and supportive in challenging situations, with guidance from colleagues.

Works well both independently and as part of a team.

Committed to professional conduct and maintaining appropriate boundaries.

Flexible approach to working hours (mainly weekdays, occasional evenings).

Passionate about delivering a high-quality, compassionate service for unpaid carers.

Additional Notes / Special Requirements

Flexible working hours and days, with some evening or weekend events required.

An enhanced DBS check and references will be required before commencing the role.
