Memorable Adventure
Our Goal!
Here at Carers Trust Solihull, our Young Carers Team support more than 1,000 children and young adults, from as young as 5 years old right up to 25. Most haven’t known a life other than being an unpaid carer and putting others first.
Their time is spent caring for a family member who could be dealing with a disability, long-term illness, mental health issues, and terminal illness. Providing care often takes up so much time that it’s more common than not that a young carer will suffer social isolation, poor school attendance, struggle with managing their schoolwork, as well as taking on further responsibilities beyond their age.
They are not being able to live their lives as young people; play, socialise, follow their dreams and fuel their imaginations — they deserve a break!
We are raising funds to send 24 children on this life-changing trip to Blackwell, with a total goal of £5,760. That would ensure all of those young carers would receive a much-needed and well-earned 3 day break, with treasured memories that will last a lifetime.
As these young carers often come from households that have limited earning potential due to disability and/or illness, the trip to Blackwell is only possible due to the kind support of donations from kind funders like you.
Why this matters
We are raising funds to send 24 children on this life-changing trip to Blackwell, with a total goal of £5,760.
The final date for raising these funds is 19th August 2026!
That would ensure all of those young carers would receive a much-needed and well-earned 3 day break, with treasured memories that will last a lifetime.
As these young carers often come from households that have limited earning potential due to disability and/or illness, the trip to Blackwell is only possible due to the kind support of donations from kind funders like you.
Blackwell Adventure
Blackwell accommodates selected children who otherwise would not get the opportunity to go on a holiday — a lot of our young carers have never had a holiday.
This trip relies on us raising funds through donations to enable us to offer it for free to those young carers and their families. Costs include transport, accommodation, food, and a wide range of exciting adventurous activities: abseiling, kayaking, archery, bushcraft, laser tag, caving, disc golf, and so much more!
For a lot of young carers this would be their first opportunity to receive a carefree 3 day break from their responsibilities, and a chance to meet and make new friends, build their self-esteem, but also to have lots of fun and to let their imaginations run wild with the possibilities of life, that so often are limited by their caring role.
Our Past Blackwell Adventure!
For some lucky young carers, the trip to Blackwell has already been a reality!
Thanks to donors and the hard work of our supporters we were able to provide a much needed break for some of our young carers, and it meant the world to them!
For some young carers, the chance to relax, run around, play and have fun is a rarity. Being able to do that with people their own age and being carers just like them, it creates a playful and supportive atmosphere where friendships are born.

Any support you can offer will be greatly appreciated by us but more importantly, by our young carers.
Too often, our young carers do not get the chance to see a life outside of caring; setting up doctor’s appointments, cleaning their home, cooking meals, managing medication, and then having to deal with school life and studies. They deserve more than that and we have the goal to fuel their imagination of the possibilities available in the world!
