At Carers Trust Solihull, our mission is to support all unpaid carers in Solihull. We provide free and meaningful support to unpaid carers; supporting their emotional and physical wellbeing, preventing crisis and keeping families together. By working together with education, businesses and the voluntary sector, as well as the health and social care services, we can improve the lives of unpaid carers in Solihull.

who are we?

We have existed since 2002 and are the lead organisation for all unpaid carers in Solihull. Each Carers Trust is an independent charity and work to actively promote the wellbeing of unpaid carers of all ages. We believe unpaid carers should be able to access the quality support and services they need. We are registered with the Fundraising Regulator, so rest assured and join us by supporting our work.

We are commissioned and primarily funded by Solihull Council, enabling us to provide all of our services and support. We are entrusted by Solihull Council to deliver its duty of providing vital Carer’s Assessments to all unpaid carers.

We aim to deliver quality support that responds to the needs of unpaid carers of all ages and backgrounds throughout Solihull. Furthermore, we respect unpaid carers as equal partners and work together with other organisations to maximise support, to enable carers to remain emotionally and physically well, and have equal access to fulfilled lives.

We are commissioned and primarily funded by Solihull Council, to provide both statutory and non-statutory services for unpaid carers. This includes carrying out Carer's Assessments, creating personalised support plans, and offering emotional support, training, peer groups, and respite opportunities. Our partnership is part of Solihull’s wider Carers Strategy, ensuring unpaid carers are identified early, supported effectively, and recognised as vital to the health and care system of the borough.

Solihull's Here2Help initiative provides vital support to residents, including unpaid carers, through collaboration with organisations like Carers Trust Solihull. It funds services such as Carers Assessments, personalised support plans, and guidance on financial benefits. The initiative also helps carers with emergency planning and accessing financial support, ensuring they receive the resources and assistance needed to manage their responsibilities and well-being effectively.
UB Healthcare is proudly supporting Carers Trust Solihull as their charity of the year, and we’re delighted to be working in partnership to support unpaid carers across the borough. Together, we’re delivering tailored training, promoting carer-friendly workplaces through the “Hidden Carer” campaign, and raising vital funds—most recently through their generous sponsorship of our Carers Week walk. Their commitment is helping us raise awareness, reach more carers, and provide the support they need to feel recognised, valued, and equipped in their roles.
Sydney Mitchell have become loyal and dedicated friends to us. They have constantly donated their time and expertise in legal matters that are crucial to our unpaid carers; hosting and running workshops on Wills, Power of Attorney and Continuing Healthcare - not to mention discussing these topics in-depth on our podcast, 'Carers Talk'. They are visible and helpful at all our events, such as Carer's Rights Day Information Events, as well as independently raising awareness and donations throughout the borough, for our carers.
The beautiful grounds of Macc Carer's Blossomfield Rose Care Home, have graciously opened their doors to our carer's events and activities. If you've ever joined us for a relaxation day or meet-up, you'll know that nothing is too big or too small for the amazing and supportive staff of Blossomfield Rose. They have made multiple events feel special; all of our carers love relaxing in the stunning gardens and the comfortable surroundings. A lot of our events are made better because of the Macc Care's Blossomfield Rose.
Lions logo
We’re incredibly grateful for the support of Lions Clubs International and Balsall Common Lions. Through their generous funding, they help us provide vital services and initiatives for unpaid carers. Lions Clubs International contribute to local projects that benefit carers, while Balsall Common Lions have funded special events, like a Christmas celebration for young carers, ensuring they feel recognised and appreciated. Their ongoing support makes a real difference to the lives of carers and their families in our community.
JLR has been a steadfast supporter of young carers in Solihull, providing generous donations and fundraising. On Young Carers Action Day 2024, they donated £10,000 and a Land Rover Discovery, enabling young carers without transport to attend our events. JLR’s ongoing support, including through the Employee Charity Fund, ensures young carers access vital support, feel valued, and stay connected. We’re truly grateful for JLR’s continued generosity and positive impact on young carers in Solihull.

We are incredibly grateful to Shirley Ladies Circle for their generous fundraising throughout 2024. As part of a national group, they’ve supported local charities for nearly 70 years, and this year, they chose Carers Trust Solihull. Through events like the Shirley Beer and Cider Festival, Ceilidh, Solihull Fireworks, and Santa Sleigh route, they’ve raised £9,175 for us! We truly appreciate their support and are excited to share their efforts to welcome new members and raise awareness of their fantastic work.

Trustees oversee everything a charity does, from setting its strategy to being responsible for its work and finances. All of our trustees are volunteers with big responsibilities but being a trustee is a rewarding way to make a difference. Half of our trustee board are carers themselves.
